410th MW Supports PAF Flying Units through Preventive Maintenance

The 410th MW conducted Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) to the different aircraft of the PAF Flying Units all over the country. These were done by the personnel on the NDI Shops deployed for the month of June 2017, wherein there were 272 bottles of oil sampling tested for the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP). This testing analyze the generation of wear metals and other particles in an engine-oil by the changing conditions of its various parts like oil pump, gears, bearings and other metallic parts (up to approximately 5 microns in size). Other NDI methods completed were, 86 Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), 261 each Eddy Current Inspection (ECI), 669 each Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), 50 Radiographic Inspection and 18 Internal Visual Inspection by the use of borescope. The responsive conduct of Non-Destructive Inspection by 410th MW NDI personnel to the different aircraft of PAF flying units have provided efficient corrective actions thus safety of flight have been achieved for the period.
